New York City: Nativity of the Mother of God in Synodal Cathedral of the Sign

On Saturday, September 21, the great feast of the Nativity of the Most Holy Theotokos, the First Hierarch of the Russian Church Abroad celebrated the Divine Liturgy in the Synodal Cathedral of the Sign in New York City.

His Eminence Hilarion, Metropolitan of Eastern America & New York, was co-served by His Grace Mstislav, Bishop of Tikhvin & Lodeynoye Pole, as well as Tikhvin Diocesan secretary Archpriest Alexander Larin, cathedral clergy led by Archpriest Andrei Sommer, and visiting clergy. After the Great Entrance, the priestly ordination of Deaacon Maxim Abroskin. The newly ordained Priest Maxim will fulfill his service in the Canadian Diocese.

Upon completion of the Liturgy, Bishop Mstislav greeted Metropolitan Hilarion, expressing his joy at the opportunity to serve in the Synodal Cathedral of ROCOR and commune with her First Hierarch. His Grace presented the Metropolitan with a Hierarchal cross and panagia set. In turn, the Metropolitan gave his distinguished guest a copy of the Protectress of the Russian Diaspora – the Kursk Root Icon of the Mother of God.

Bishop Mstislav is in North America visiting relatives. However, he chose not to miss the opportunity to serve not only in the Synodal Cathedral, but also in St. Nicholas Patriarchal Cathedral and Holy Trinity Monastery in Jordanville on his way to Canada.
