Jordanville, NY: Patronal Feast Day of St. Elizabeth Skete

On Thursday the 17th and Friday the 18th of July, the feast day of the Holy Nun-Martyrs Grand Duchess Elizabeth and Barbara, His Eminence Gabriel, Archbishop of Montreal & Canada, led the patronal feast day of St. Elizabeth the New-Martyr Skete in Jordanville, NY. On Thursday evening, His Eminence served the All-Night Vigil in the skete’s yet-uncompleted chapel, co-served by clerics from neighboring Holy Trinity Monastery ‒ its abbot, Archimandrite Luke (Murianka), Archpriest Vladimir Tsurikov, and Deacon Peter Markevich. Also praying at the services were Archpriest Michael Taratuchin (rector of St. John of Kronstadt Memorial Church in Utica, NY) and Hieromonk Theophylact (Clapper-DeWell; monastery cleric), the sisterhood, led by Abbess Elizabeth, parishioners and pilgrims.

On Friday morning, Archbishop Gabriel celebrated the Divine Liturgy, after which a procession was held around the skete grounds. Upon completion of the service, a festal luncheon was under the open sky, where the clergy and faithful were able to continue their interaction with one another and with their distinguished guest.
