Jordanville: Holy Trinity Monastery to host the "Summer Boys" Youth Program

Fifteen young men have enrolled in the Summer Youth Program at Holy Trinity Monastery this year. The daily program starts at 6:00 AM with Divine Liturgy, followed by breakfast, rest, and a 9:00 AM meeting where different topics are discussed each day. Later in the morning, there are assigned obediences for an hour and a half. Likewise, after lunch, the boys work for another one or two hours as assigned or needed. The afternoons and evenings are filled with various activities including field trips. Each day ends with prayer.

It is important to note that, during the entire three-week program, neither mobile phones nor the Internet are allowed to be used. This gives the boys an opportunity to experience a period of time without the usual daily distractions found in the world. This helps them to relate to each other better forming stronger social bonds.

With the Grace of God, one former Summer Youth Program boy is now a seminarian and another one is a novice. In fact, many clergy of the Russian Church Abroad drew closer to God with their experience as "Summer Boys" in Jordanville. Many others have formed pious families with the good influence they received at the Summer Youth Program.
