New York City: First Hierarch of Russian Church Abroad takes part in Meeting of Committee Chairmen of Episcopal Assembly

On Tuesday, June 10, a meeting of the committee chairmen of the Assembly of Canonical Orthodox Bishops of North America and the Assembly’s Committee for Canonical Regional Planning was held in the Headquarters of the Greek Archdiocese of America in New York City. Taking part in the meeting was the First Hierarch of the Russian Church Abroad, Metropolitan Hilarion of Eastern America & New York, who serves as the Vice Chairman on the Committee for Canonical Affairs.

Chairing the meeting was the head of the Greek Archdiocese in America, Archbishop Demetrios, who also serves as president of the Assembly. The hierarchal committee chairmen discussed progress on the several issues that had been put before the committees during the Assembly’s last meeting in Chicago in September of last year, and determined the basic direction of work for the coming months.
