San Francisco, CA: Bishop Nicholas of Manhattan Celebrates First Divine Liturgy

On Monday, June 30, the newly consecrated Bishop Nicholas of Manhattan celebrated his first Divine Liturgy as a Hierarch, in Joy of All Who Sorrow Cathedral in San Francisco, CA. His Grace was co-served by clergy from the dioceses of the Russian Church Abroad. Also praying at the service were the hierarchs taking part in the ROCOR Council of Bishops, as well as participants of the XIII All-Diasporan Youth Conference.

The clergy and many of the faithful noted more than once the Paschal atmosphere present at Liturgy. Upon completion of the service, Bishop Nicholas addressed the clergy and faithful with a word of thanks, as well as recognition for the many gifts he had received. In return, approaching the cross, they wished His Grace God’s aid in his coming labors for the glory of the Holy Church. Also present at the Liturgy was the Kursk Root Icon of the Mother of God, whose guardian Bishop Nicholas has been for the past several years.
