Howell, NJ: Rite of Holy Unction served at St. George’s Church

On Sunday afternoon, March 23 ‒ the Sunday of the Cross ‒ the Sacrament of Holy Unction was served at St. George’s Church in Howell, NJ. The Rite was led by parish rector Archpriest Serge Lukianov, co-served by Archpriest Boris Slootsky (parish cleric), Priests Leonid Goferman (rector of Holy Virgin Protection Church in New Brunswick, NJ), Seraphim Chemodakov (cleric of neighboring St. Alexander Nevsky Cathedral in Howell), Serge Ledkovsky (deputy rector of St. Vladimir Memorial Church in Jackson, NJ), Dmitri Don (rector of Sts. Cosmas & Damian Church in Passaic, NJ), and Valery Sukholobov (rector of Joy of All Who Sorrow Church in Philadelphia, PA), and parish clerics: Protodeacon Leonid Roschko and Deacon Michael Wengrin.

The choir sang prayerfully, and the seven Epistle readings were read by seven local subdeacons and readers. Upon completion of the Unction service, Fr. Serge thanked his fellow clergy for taking part in the sacrament, and reminded all those who received grace through anointing with holy oil to receive Christ’s Holy Mysteries at the nearest Liturgy.
