Newark, NJ: Kazan Church Parish celebrates 25th Priestly Anniversary of Rector Archpriest Mark Burachek

On Sunday, May 18, the parishioners of Our Lady of Kazan Church in Newark, NJ marked the 25th anniversary (which took place on May 8th) of the priestly ordination of their beloved rector, Archpriest Mark Burachek. Fr. Mark was ordained to the priesthood by Bishop Hilarion of Manhattan (now Metropolitan of Eastern America & New York, First Hierarch of the Russian Church Abroad) on May 8, 1989 ‒ his namesday, the feast day of the Holy Apostle & Evangelist Mark ‒ in the Synodal Cathedral of the Sign in New York City.

On Thursday morning, Fr. Mark celebrated the Divine Liturgy, co-served by his dear friends: Priest Michael Metni (cleric of the Canadian Diocese), Protodeacon Dimitri Temidis (cleric of Holy Virgin Protection Church in Nyack, NY), and Deacon George Temidis (cleric of Nativity of the Mother of God Church at the New Kursk Root Hermitage in Mahopac, NY). Though the service took place on a workday, nevertheless the church was filled with the faithful, who came to share in their pastor’s special day.

After Liturgy, a bountiful luncheon was offered in the parish hall, during which congratulatory words were said, and Fr. Mark thanked everyone – his family, friends, and flock – for their love and support over the years. Also joining the parishioners and guests was Archpriest Alexander Fedorowski (senior cleric of Holy Dormition Convent Novo-Diveevo in Nanuet, NY). Fr. Mark was then presented with a gift from the entire parish.
