Melbourne, Australia: Bishop George leads Patronal Feast Day of Holy Dormition Church

On Wednesday the 27th and Thursday the 28th of August, the great feast of the Dormition of the Most Holy Theotokos, His Grace, Eastern American Diocesan vicar Bishop George of Mayfield, led the patronal feast day of the Church of our Lady’s Dormition in Dandenong (a suburb of Melbourne), Australia.

His Grace was co-served by parish rector of Vicar-General of the Australian Diocese Archpriest Michael Protopopov, Archpriest Nikolai Karipoff (rector of Holy Virgin Protection Cathedral in Melbourne), Priest Geoff Harvey (rector of Good Pastor Antiochian Mission in Melbourne), Hieromonk Elijah (McArdle), and Protodeacon Basil Kozulin (rector of Joy of All Who Sorrow Church in Geelong).

Upon completion of the Divine Liturgy on Thursday morning, a procession was performed around the church. After the service, a festal luncheon was held in the parish hall.

Since July 7, at the request and with the blessing of Metropolitan Hilarion, Bishop George has been performing an archpastoral visit to the Diocese of Australia & New Zealand. He will return to the Eastern American Diocese on September 24.
