Jordanville, NY: St. Elizabeth Skete installs New Iconostasis

St. Elizabeth Women’s Skete in Jordanville, NY received its new wooden iconostasis from Russia, and was able to install it in time for the feast of St. Nicholas. The beautiful iconostasis was hand-carved for the convent in Russia by master carver Andrey Vukolov and his Abramtsevsky Workshop.

The materials were brought to the monastery from the port free of charge by Priest Dmitri Don (rector of Sts. Cosmas & Damian Church in Passaic, NJ), and assembly and installed by friends of the sisterhood. The Liturgy for the feast of St. Nicholas on Saturday, December 19 was celebrated by Hieromonk Gabriel (Astrahankine; cleric of neighboring Holy Trinity Monastery).

The iconostasis will be completed with icons from Holy Trinity Monastery’s Icon Studio.
