New York City: Nativity Divine Services in the Synodal Cathedral of the Sign

On Tuesday the 6th and Wednesday the 7th of January, on the great feast of Christ’s Nativity, the divine services in the Synodal Cathedral of the Sign in New York City were led by the First Hierarch of the Russian Church Abroad, Metropolitan Hilarion of Eastern America & New York, and Bishop Nicholas of Manhattan, vicar of the Eastern American Diocese.

Vigil in the Cathedral of the Sign on January 6 was led by Bishop Nicholas, while the festal Liturgy on January 7 was celebrated by Metropolitan Hilarion. The hierarchs were co-served by cathedral clergy: senior priest Archpriest Andrei Sommer, Archpriests Vasiliy Raskovskiy and Petro Zgoba, Priest Vitaliy Lalyukov, Protodeacons Nicolas Mokhoff and Vadim Gan, and Deacons Nathan Mousselli, Nazari Fataliev, and Dionysius Lvov. Chanting the divine services was the Hierarchal Choir, under the direction of Peter Fekula.

Upon completion of the Liturgy, for his dedicated, 57-year service to the Holy Church and to the Synodal parish, Metropolitan Hilarion awarded Subdeacon George Schatiloff the highest award of the Russian Church Abroad – the Order of the Kursk Root Icon of the Mother of God, 1st Class.
