Nanuet, NY: Bishop Nicholas blesses Remodeled Reception Hall in Novo-Diveevo Convent

On June 7, the Sunday of All Saints, His Grace, Eastern American Diocesan vicar Bishop Nicholas of Manhattan, visited Holy Dormition Novo-Diveevo Convent, where he celebrated the Divine Liturgy and blessed the newly remodeled reception hall. His Grace was co-served by monastery clergy: Archpriests Alexander Fedorowski and Yaroslav Belikow, Archdeacons Serge Arlievsky and Eugene Kallaur (cleric of St. Seraphim Memorial Church in Sea Cliff, NY).

It was a perfect day with a bright blue sky, a pleasant breeze, and a garden setting with grape vines growing in the small monastery field surrounded by woods. Following the Liturgy, a procession of the cross led the clergy, faithful, and nuns to the newly remodeled reception hall. Outside, the service commenced, and the hall and kitchen of the newly remodeled building were blessed. Following the blessing, everyone was invited to share in a festal luncheon buffet provided by the families that helped and supported the building’s renovation. The festive mood continued well into the afternoon, with families and friends enjoying themselves. After the meal, Bishop Nicholas strolled around the grounds, spending time with everybody, while children collected berries from a mulberry tree nearby and everyone continued to socialize. It was a beautiful afternoon, enjoyed by all that came to visit.

The work is not yet completed, and funds are still needed. There are other projects in Novo-Diveevo that will be addressed, also. For those wishing to donate to the Renovation Project, checks can be written out to "Russian Orthodox Convent;" please earmark them for "Novo-Diveevo Renovation".
