New York City: On Feast of Pentecost, Bishop Nicholas celebrates Liturgy in Synodal Cathedral

On Sunday, May 31, the great feast of Holy Pentecost, His Grace, Eastern American Diocesan vicar Bishop Nicholas of Manhattan, celebrated the Divine Liturgy in the Synodal Cathedral of the Sign in New York City. His Grace was co-served by the cathedral’s senior priest, Archpriest Andrei Sommer, and cathedral clerics: Archpriest Vasiliy Raskovskiy, Hieromonk Eutychius (Dovganyuk), Protodeacons Nicolas Mokhoff and Vadim Gan, and Deacon Nazari Fataliev. At the Sixth Hour, Bishop Nicholas ordained Reader Pavel Roudenko a subdeacon.

A multitude of the cathedral’s parishioners gathered for the festal divine services. In honor of the great feast, most communed of Christ’s Holy Mysteries.

Upon completion of the service, Bishop Nicholas addressed the faithful with a sermon on the subject of the feast. The traditional Great Vespers with the reading of the Kneeling Prayers was then served. After the service, the cathedral sisterhood offered a festal luncheon for the clergy and parishioners.
