New York City: Eastern American Diocese greets Myrrh-Streaming Icon of Mother of God "Softener of Evil Hearts"

On Friday, March 6, the myrrh-streaming icon of the Mother of God "Softener of Evil Hearts" arrived in the Eastern American Diocese from Moscow. The holy icon and its guardian, Sergey Fomin, were greeted by diocesan secretary Archpriest Serge Lukianov. From the airport, the first church the holy icon visited was Holy New Martyrs & Confessors of Russia Church in Brooklyn, NY, where it will remain for the divine services on Saturday and Sunday. The icon of the Most Holy Theotokos will then visit parishes in the Greater New York area, followed by travels to New Jersey, New York State, the District of Columbia, Ohio, West Virginia, Georgia, and Florida.

From Monday the 16th to Wednesday the 18th of March, the myrrh-streaming icon will visit St. Alexander Nevsky Diocesan Cathedral in Howell, NJ, which is hosting the Lenten Retreat for the clergy and matushkas of the Eastern American Diocese. For the feast of Christ’s Glorious Resurrection, the icon will make its traditional visit to Holy Trinity Monastery in Jordanville, NY.
