New York City – Howell, NJ: On Feast of Sts. Cyril & Methodius, Metropolitan Hilarion celebrates Liturgy in Synod & attends Wedding at Diocesan Cathedral

On Sunday, May 24, the feast of the Holy Equals-of-the-Apostles Cyril & Methodius, Teachers of the Slavs, Metropolitan Hilarion of Eastern America & New York, First Hierarch of the Russian Church Abroad, celebrated the Divine Liturgy in the Synodal Cathedral of the Sign in New York City. His Eminence was co-served by the cathedral’s senior priest, Archpriest Andrei Sommer, and by cathedral clergy Archpriest Vasiliy Raskovskiy, Hieromonks Eutychius (Dovganyuk) and Tikhon (Gayfudinov), Protodeacons Nicolas Mokhoff and Vadim Gan, and Deacons Nazari Fataliev and Dionysius Lvov. Upon completion of the service, the Polychronion was intoned to Patriarch Kyrill of Moscow & All Russia, who was celebrating his namesday. Metropolitan Hilarion addressed the faithful with a sermon, speaking about the lives of these saints, teachers and authors of the Slavic alphabet.

In the second half of the day, Metropolitan Hilarion visited St. Alexander Nevsky Diocesan Cathedral in Howell, NJ, where, upon completion of the Sacrament of Holy Matrimony, he congratulated Reader Peter Lukianov (director of the Eastern American Diocesan Media Office) and Alexandra Roschko (the cathedral’s choir conductor) with the start of their family life, wishing them God’s aid, peace, and familial well-being, and calling on them to support one another in all of life’s circumstances. After the wedding, Bishop Jerome likewise arrived to congratulate the newlyweds.
