New York City: Bishop Nicholas leads Patronal Feast Day of Holy Fathers Church

On October 25, the Sunday of the Holy Fathers of the VII Ecumenical Council, His Grace, Eastern American Diocesan vicar Bishop Nicholas of Manhattan, carried out his second archpastoral visit to Holy Fathers Church in New York City, and celebrated the Divine Liturgy on the occasion of the parish’s patronal feast day.

At Liturgy, His Grace was co-served by parish rector Archpriest Alexander Botschagow and Protodeacon Vadim Gan (cleric of the Synodal Cathedral of the Sign in New York). At the Little Entrance, for his longtime service to the Holy Church, Fr. Alexander was awarded the right to wear the palitsa.

The service proceeded in a quiet atmosphere, and the faithful noted the especially peaceful and prayerful spirit in the church. Upon completion of the service, Bishop Nicholas addressed the faithful with a sermon, in which he spoke on the great feats of the Holy Fathers of the VII Ecumenical Council, who defeated the heresy of iconoclasm and restored the veneration of the holy icons.

After the service, the parish sisterhood offered a festal luncheon in the parish hall for the hierarch, clergy, and faithful.
