Ipswich, MA: Metropolitan Jonah visits St. John the Russian Church

On Saturday the 17th and Sunday the 18th of October, with the blessing of His Eminence, Metropolitan Hilarion, Metropolitan Jonah paid an archpastoral visit to St. John the Russian Church in Ipswich, MA.

On Saturday night, parish rector Archpriest Spyridon Schneider served Great Vespers, after which Metropolitan Jonah led a discussion on modern-day secularism and leading an Orthodox spiritual life. His Eminence touched on the difficulties Orthodox Christians today face while immersed in a secular society hostile to any kind of spiritual life, and how we can strive to preserve spirituality. A question-and-answer session followed.

The following morning, Metropolitan Jonah celebrated the Divine Liturgy, co-served by Fr. Spyridon. Upon completion of the Liturgy, His Eminence delivered a sermon, and thanked the rector and parishioners for their warm welcome.

After the service, a luncheon was served in the parish hall.
