Mebane, NC: Metropolitan Hilarion visits Holy Trinity Church & Performs Diaconal Ordination

On Saturday, October 24, His Eminence Hilarion, Metropolitan of Eastern America & New York, First Hierarch of the Russian Church Abroad, paid an archpastoral visit to Holy Trinity Church in Mebane, NC. At the Divine Liturgy, His Eminence was co-served by parish rector Hieromonk Gabriel (Kvasnikov), Archpriest Alexander Logunov (rector of Reigning Mother of God Church in Charlotte, NC), Priest Alexander Stepanenko (cleric of the same), and Deacon Dionysius Lvov (cleric of the Synodal Cathedral of the Sign, accompanying His Eminence).

During the reading of the hours, parish sacristan Vladimir Bradshaw was tonsured a reader. At the Little Entrance, in accordance with the resolution of the Synod of Bishops, Fr. Alexander Logunov received the right to wear the palitsa. After the Eucharistic Canon, Subdeacon Ioann Makarov of the Reigning Mother of God Church in Charlotte was ordained to the diaconate. The service was accompanied by the pious chanting of the parish choir, directed by Reader Andrei Semianko.

Upon completion of the service, parishioners prepared a picnic, during which the First Hierarch of the Russian Church Abroad spoke with parishioners about current issues relating to Orthodox life in the American South.
