New York City: Festal Services for Entry of the Lord into Jerusalem held at Synodal Cathedral

On Saturday the 23rd and Sunday the 24th of April, hierarchal divine services were held in the Synodal Cathedral of the Sign in New York City for the great feast of the Entry of the Lord into Jerusalem.

The All-Night Vigil on Saturday evening was led by the First Hierarch of the Russian Church Abroad, Metropolitan Hilarion of Eastern America & New York, co-served by Eastern American Diocesan vicar Bishop Nicholas of Manhattan, senior priest Archpriest Andrei Sommer, and cathedral clergy: Archpriest Vasiliy Raskovskiy, Hieromonk Eutychius (Dovganyuk), Priest Vitaliy Lalyukov, Protodeacons Nicolas Mokhoff and Vadim Gan, and Deacon Dionysius Lvov, as well as Deacon Nathan Mousselli (cleric of St. Vladimir Memorial Church in Jackson, NJ).

After the reading of the Gospel at the Polyeleos, His Eminence performed the blessing of the palms and pussy willows.

The following morning, the festal Divine Liturgy on Palm Sunday was led by the Metropolitan alone, co-served by cathedral clergy. During the Liturgy, cathedral Deacon Dionysius Lvov was elevated to the rank of protodeacon. A great number of cathedral parishioners communed of Christ’s Holy Mysteries.

After the service, a festal luncheon was served for the clergy and faithful in the cathedral hall.
