Fund for Assistance’s
Urgent Appeal: "Help Your Suffering Orthodox Brothers & Sisters in
Haiti is the poorest country in
the Western Hemisphere, and has been devastated by Hurricane
Matthew. Close to a 1,000 have lost their lives. Members of our
ROCOR Mission in Haiti have suffered, as well. While none have lost
their lives, all have endured damage to their meager property and
crops. Especially hard hit were our brothers in Les Cayes in the
The Parish of St. John of
Shanghai & San Francisco has suffered water damage, the floor is
covered in several inches of water, and the property is covered in
In Jacmel, home to another
ROCOR parish, fields are destroyed, farms animals are dead, several
Orthodox families’ homes have been destroyed.
As you have probably heard,
very little of the International Aid promised to Haiti after the
earthquake of 2010 has actually reached the country.
The Fund for Assistance to
ROCOR has been working with the ROCOR Mission in Haiti for many
years. Reader Pierre from St. John of Shanghai & San Francisco
Parish writes, "Very little aid ever reaches Haiti’s most needy. You
are our only hope."
