Nyack, NY: Patronal Feast Day of Holy Protection Church led by Bishop Nicholas

On Friday, October 14, the major feast of the Protection of the Most Holy Theotokos, Eastern American Diocesan vicar Bishop Nicholas of Manhattan led the patronal feast day of Holy Virgin Protection Church in Nyack, NY.

At the Divine Liturgy, His Grace was co-served by Archpriests George Larin (pastor emeritus), Ilya Gorsky (rector), and Chad Williams (rector of St. Alexander Nevsky Memorial Church in Richmond, ME), Hieromonk Theognost (economos of the Hermitage of the Savior Not-Made-by-Hands Monastery near Kaluga, Russia), Priest Ignatius Green and Protodeacon Dimitri Temidis (parish clerics), Protodeacon Serge Arlievsky and Hierodeacon Panteleimon (Jigalin; clerics of Holy Dormition Convent "Novo-Diveevo" in Nanuet, NY), and parish Deacon Andrew Podymow.

At the Little Entrance, Fr. Ignatius was awarded the right to wear the nabedrennik.

Despite its being a weekday, many parishioners came in order to lift up their zealous prayers to the Queen of Heaven. Upon completion of the Liturgy, Bishop Nicholas addressed the faithful with a sermon, in which he spoke about his recent travels with the wonderworking Kursk Root Icon to Russia, and about how the Most Holy Theotokos is prepared to help all those who ask for her intercession.

After the service, the parish sisterhood offered a festal luncheon for the clergy and guests.
