Three presentations were given: "An overview of the Problems of Science and Religion from a Pastoral Perspective," by Priest Victor Boldewskul, Rector of the Epiphany Church;

Buffalo, NY: Bishop George visits Sts. Theodore Church on their feast day of the Translation of the Relics of St. Theodore Stratelates

Bishop George made an archpastoral visit June 20-21 to Sts. Theodore Church in Williamsville (Buffalo), NY. Though it was his first visit here since his consecration last December.

Howell, NJ: Greeting of the Diocesan Council to all visitors of the Eastern American Diocese website

From the Editors: A meeting of the Diocesan Council was held on Tuesday, June 23, 2009 in Howell, NJ, presided over by Bishop George of Mayfield. Having reviewed the Media Office's project of the new diocesan website, the members of the council approved the site and issued the following statement: 

 

Howell, NJ: Diocesan celebrations of the feasts of the Royal Martyrs and St. Vladimir
June 23, 2009
On Tuesday, June 23, a regular meeting of the Diocesan Council was held in Howell, NJ. The council approved official diocesan celebrations of the feasts of the Royal Martyrs and St. Vladimir to be held in July of this year. Friday, July 17, 2009 will mark the 91st anniversary of the martyrdom of the Holy Royal Martyrs of Russia. On this day, festivities in honor of the Holy Royal Martyrs will be held at St. George’s Church in Freewood Acres. On Thursday evening at 6:00 PM, the relics of the royal family will be greeted, after which an All-Night Vigil with an akathist to Tsar-martyr Nicholas II will commence.

 

Howell, NJ: Meeting of the Diocesan Auditing Committee

On Monday, June 22, a regular meeting of the Diocesan Auditing Committee was held in Howell, NJ at Diocesan headquarters. The meeting, held on the eve of the regular Diocesan Council meeting, was chaired by Protodeacon Constantine Semyanko. Also present at the meeting were members Deacon Leonid Roschko and Mr. Joseph Koller.

 

Boston, MA: Diocesan Youth Choir celebrates ROCOR Youth Day in Massachusetts

On June 12-14, the Eastern American Diocese Youth Choir gathered in the Boston, MA area to celebrate the feast recently designated for the youth of the Russian Orthodox Church Abroad, the Feast of All Saints.  On this festive weekend, the choir sang divine services both in Holy Epiphany Church in Roslindale, MA, and also at St. Xenia’s Church in Methuen, MA.
