Howell, NJ: A regular meeting of the Diocesan Council was held
On
Tuesday, June 23, a regular meeting of the Diocesan Council was held
in Howell, NJ, under the chairmanship of Bishop George of Mayfield.
Council members heard the following reports and issued the following
resolutions:
1)
A report from the chairwoman of the Diocesan Music Commission, Ms.
Elizabeth Ledkovsky, on the work of the newly formed Commission and
its future projects.
2)
A report from the chairman of the Auditing Committee, Protodeacon
Constantine Semyanko, on the ongoing audit of financial reports
from previous years. As the audit is still ongoing, further
details will be presented at the next meeting of the Diocesan
Council.
3)
A report from Media Office staff member Reader Peter Lukianov on
the new site of the Eastern American Diocese. Council members
approved the new site and resolved to publish it the same day.
4)
A report from the Secretary of the Diocese, Archpriest Serge
Lukianov, on the upcoming clergy conference in Atlanta, GA, on
October 21-23 of this year. Further information about the
conference will be published on the Diocesan site in the near
future.
5)
The Diocesan Council resolved to carry out the national celebrations
of the memory of the Holy Royal Martyrs and of St. Vladimir. The
Feast of the Holy Royal Martyrs will take place on July 16-17 in St.
George's Church at the Diocesan Center in Howell, NJ. St. Vladimir's
Day will take place on July 25-26 at St. Vladimir's Memorial Church
in Jackson, NJ.
6)
The Council resolved to carry out a Lenten pastoral retreat on March
1-3, 2010, at St. John the Baptist Cathedral in the town of
Mayfield, PA.
7)
The Council also discussed a series of miscellaneous items concerning
Diocesan life and administration.
The
next meeting of the Diocesan Council will be held at the end of
August.
