Washington, DC: A meeting between the Diocesan Secretary and the Cultural Attaché at the Russian Federation Embassy

emb.lg.jpg (43120 bytes)On Thursday, March 18, with the blessing of His Eminence, Metropolitan Hilarion, a meeting was held at the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Washington, DC between diocesan secretary Archpriest Serge Lukianov and Russian Federation Cultural Attaché Vyacheslav Vladimirovich Moshkalo. Over the course of the meeting, Fr. Serge relayed to Vyacheslav Vladimirovich a blessing and greeting from the First Hierarch of the Russian Church Abroad.

During the meeting, issues of cooperation and coordinated activity between the Eastern American Diocese and the Russian Federation Embassy were discussed. Fr. Serge told Mr. Moshkalo about the joyous events taking place in diocesan life, about the current rebirth of the Diocese, and about the recent visit of Archpriest Artemy Vladimirov. Vyacheslav Vladimirovich shared his impressions of his own meeting with Fr. Artemy and offered the services of the Embassy to facilitate further such local meetings between Russian clergy in the homeland and in the Diaspora. He assured Fr. Serge of his readiness to facilitate in any way the development of fruitful collaboration between the Embassy and the Diocese.

A moleben before the beginning of any good work was then served in the main hall of the Embassy. In gratitude for the good relations he is helping to foster and on behalf of the Eastern American Diocese, Fr. Serge presented V.V. Moshkalo a copy of the wonder-working Kursk Root Icon of the Mother of God with a commemorative plaque for the Embassy.
