: The Patronal Feast Day of Our Lady of Vladimir Mission

costa.lg.jpg (94945 bytes)On Wednesday, June 2, on the eve of the patronal feast day of Our Lady of Vladimir Mission, Archpriest Daniel and Matushka Sophia McKenzie arrived in Costa Rica. Batushka and Matushka stopped in the home of Matushka Elena, the widow of Priest Rodion Aragon. That evening, Fr. Daniel served the All-Night Vigil, and the following morning served the Divine Liturgy in the home chapel of the reposed Fr. Rodion.

Fr. Daniel helped decide certain questions relating to the construction of the new church, which he frequently visits, stunned at its growing splendor. The builders already know Batushka very well and gladly explain to and show him all of the details of the build.

On Sunday, the feast of All Saints of Russia, the 21st anniversary of Fr. Daniel’s ordination, the first Liturgy was served in the new church. That morning a heavy rain was falling, typical weather for the tropical climate. As soon as Fr. Daniel stood before the altar table to begin the Liturgy, there was a terrible clap of thunder, as though it were a heavenly bell. Extraordinary joy was felt, because alongside the faithful all the hosts of Heaven keep festival, rejoicing in the appearance on earth of yet another of God’s churches.

On Tuesday, June 8, on the way to the airport, Fr. Daniel served a thanksgiving moleben in the new church.
