Washington, DC: The First Hierarch of ROCOR and Administrator of the Patriarchal Parishes in the USA met with the Russian Federation Ambassador

dc3.jpg (76447 bytes)On September 10, on the eve of the patronal feast day of St. John the Baptist Cathedral in Washington, DC, a meeting was held in the official residence of the Russian Federation Ambassador between His Excellency, Sergey I. Kislyak, Ambassador Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation, the First Hierarch of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia, His Eminence Hilarion, Metropolitan of Eastern America and New York, and the Administrator of the Patriarchal Parishes in the USA, His Eminence Justinian, Archbishop of Naro-Fominsk.

The archpastors congratulated Ambassador Kislyak on the occasion of his 60th birthday, which he celebrated September 7. Discussed during the course of the visit were next year’s celebrations in honor of the bicentennial of the Russian settlement in Northern California, Fort Ross. As reported by the website of the Patriarchal Parishes in the USA, the creation and installment of an iconostasis for Fort Ross’ Holy Trinity Church is planned for this significant date.
