Framingham, MA: The Miter of St. John of San Francisco was brought to St. John the Wonderworker Church

frmghm.lg.jpg (40736 bytes)On Tuesday, October 12, the day of the finding of the relics of St. John (Maximovitch), the holy relic of St. John’s miter was brought to St. John the Wonderworker Church in Framingham, MA. An akathist to the hierarch was served in the presence of faithful from the surrounding parishes of Greater Boston.

The akathist was led by the Chancellor of the Synod of Bishops, Archpriest Serafim Gan, co-served by parish rector Priest Vadim Pismenny. After the service, Fr. Serafim addressed those gathered with an instructive sermon on the spiritual labors of St. John, and the substance of Christian love. In response, Fr. Vadim thanked Fr. Serafim for bringing the holy relic and expressed his hope that parishioners will be able to venerate the miter of their church’s heavenly patron again in the future.

Everyone then came to venerate the relic and be blessed with holy oil. There were many children in church, as well as people of all ages, who piously and with full prostrations venerated the miter of St. John, to the hymning of troparia to the saint. After the akathist, a meeting of the building committee was held, as well.
