Miami, FL: The Kursk Root Icon visited St. Vladimir’s Church

On Saturday the 19th and Sunday the 20th of February, the Sunday of the Prodigal Son, the Kursk Root Icon of the Mother of God visited the St. Vladimir’s Church in Miami, FL. The Icon arrived at the church on Saturday evening, and parish rector Archpriest Daniel McKenzie and overjoyed worshipers greeted it in procession before the church. Eastern American Diocesan secretary Archpriest Serge Lukianov, who was accompanying the Icon, then served the All-Night Vigil, co-served by Fr. Daniel.

The following morning, Fr. Serge celebrated the Divine Liturgy, co-served by Fr. Daniel and parish Deacon Thomas Branch. Virtually everyone in church communed of Christ’s Holy Mysteries. Upon completion of the Liturgy, Fr. Serge delivered a sermon to the gathered faithful on the travels and miracles of the Kursk Icon, calling all to sincere repentance and prayer, and presented the rector with an icon of the Mother of God of the Sign – a blessing from Metropolitan Hilarion, First Hierarch of the Russian Church Abroad.

Upon completion of the Liturgy, a bountiful luncheon was served in the parish hall, during which the faithful continued to venerate the holy Icon and pray before it.
