Manhattan, NY: The Kursk Root Icon of the Mother of God "of the Sign" concluded its travels through the Eastern American Diocese

On Friday, February 25, the Kursk Root Icon of the Mother of God "of the Sign," the Protectress of the Russian Diaspora, concluded its travels through the Eastern American Diocese. Flying into New York from Key West, diocesan secretary Archpriest Serge Lukianov and those accompanying him made haste to the Synodal Cathedral of the Sign, where the Icon was greeted by the First Hierarch of the Russian Church Abroad, His Eminence, Metropolitan Hilarion. His Eminence then served a thanksgiving moleben in the cathedral before the wonderworking Icon.

After the moleben, the Metropolitan received Fr. Serge in his office. In the course of their discussion, Fr. Serge sincerely thanked His Eminence for that great grace – the chance to travel with this marvelous Icon for almost three months, thereby bringing joy and hope to tens of thousands of the faithful across the whole diocese. His Eminence was presented a written report on the travels of the Kursk Icon throughout the diocese. Vladyka expressed his sincere gratitude to the Almighty for the opportunity to bring such abundant grace to such a multitude of the faithful in 71 parishes throughout the East Coast.

Also discussed in addition to the report on the Icon’s travels were the details of the upcoming pastoral conference in Washington, DC and other administrative issues.
