Poughkeepsie, NY: Bishop Jerome celebrated the patronal feast day of St. Nicholas Church

On Sunday, May 22, the feast day of the Translation of the Relics of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker, His Grace Jerome, Bishop of Manhattan, paid an archpastoral visit to St. Nicholas Church in Poughkeepsie, NY, and celebrated the Divine Liturgy on the occasion of the patronal feast day. His Grace was co-served by Archpriest Victor Tseshkovsky (rector of the Nativity of the Mother of God Church at the New Kursk Root Hermitage in Mahopac, NY), parish rector Archpriest Alexander Donchenko, Archpriest Alexander Morozov (rector of St. John the Forerunner Church in Canberra, Australia), Hieromonk Nicholas (Perekrestov; cleric of the Synod Cathedral of the Sign), and Protodeacon Dimitri Temidis (cleric of Holy Virgin Protection Church in Nyack, NY).

The Liturgy was served under the aegis of the wonderworking Kursk Root Icon of the Mother of God, which was visiting the parish for the first time in many years. Upon completion of the Liturgy, a procession with moleben to St. Nicholas was performed.

For his sincere and longtime service to Christ’s Holy Church, His Grace awarded the parish warden Serge E. Cvikevich with an hierarchal gramota.

The parish sisterhood invited all those present to a luncheon, replete with a great many delicious dishes. Thankfully, the weather was magnificent, and the guests remained for hours.
