Mahopac, NY: An Invitation by Parishioners of the Nativity of the Mother of God Church at the New Kursk Root Hermitage to the Patronal Feast Day

The parish of the Nativity of the Mother of God Church at the New Kursk Root Hermitage in Mahopac, NY are inviting all of the faithful to the feast of the Nativity of the Mother of God, their patronal feast day, which this year will be celebrated on Sunday, September 25. The greeting of Metropolitan Hilarion will take place at 9:30 AM, followed by the festal Liturgy at 10:00 AM. That day there will also be a panihida served at the grave of the ever-memorable Archbishop Seraphim (Ivanov), founder of the New Kursk Root Hermitage, which marked its 60th anniversary last year. A luncheon will be offered, followed immediately by a short film in the history of the church. Parishioners hope to hold the luncheon outside, and invite all the friends of Mahopac to come and pray and support this holy place!

Below is a link to a photo album containing pictures of the restoration work taking place at the church, slowly but stoically being carried out with care by a small group of people who volunteer and dedicate their free time to work in Mahopac, despite the Restoration Fund dwindling as of late. Parishioners will be very thankful if anyone could come and help, dedicate money or construction materials, or even just pray.
