Jordanville: Two Metropolitans Celebrate Holy Spirit Day in Holy Trinity Monastery

On Monday, June 9, the feast of the Holy Spirit, His Eminence Hilarion, Metropolitan of Eastern America & New York, First Hierarch of the Russian Church Abroad, led the traditional Holy Spirit Day celebrations at Holy Trinity Monastery in Jordanville, NY. Though the feast of Pentecost is the monastery’s official feast day, Holy Spirit Day is more commonly observed, as parish clergy can only leave their parishes on Monday to travel to concelebrate at the Diasporan Lavra.

Metropolitan Hilarion was co-served by His Eminence, Metropolitan Jonah, former Archbishop of Washington and Metropolitan of All America and Canada, along with monastery and visiting clergy.

During the Little Entrance, the First Hierarch awarded Archpriest Yaroslav Belikow the right to wear the jeweled cross, in honor of the 25th anniversary of his ordination to the diaconate. Awarded the right to wear the nabedrennik were monastery clerics ‒ the Hieromonks Gabriel (Astrahankine) and Anatoly (Zilin). Upon completion of the Liturgy, Fr. Yaroslav and his Matushka Larissa were presented a diocesan Gramota in honor of their jubilee.

Metropolitan Hilarion then congratulated monastery abbot Archimandrite Luke (Murianka) and the brethren on the great feast of Pentecost and on the occasion of their patronal feast day.
