New York, NY: The Namesday of Bishop Jerome of Manhattan in the Synodal Cathedral of the Sign

With the blessing of the First Hierarch of the Russian Orthodox Church Abroad, His Eminence, Metropolitan Hilarion, the namesday of His Grace Jerome, Bishop of Manhattan, vicar of the Eastern American Diocese, was celebrated. Before the beginning of the Liturgy, the Kursk Root Icon of the Mother of God was brought to the cathedral, having spent the last five months in Europe, Ukraine, and Russia.

On Saturday the 19th and Sunday the 20th of June, His Grace, Bishop George of Mayfield, made an archpastoral to Sts. Theodore Church in Williamsville (Buffalo), NY on the occasion of the parish feast of the Translation of the relics of St. Theodore Stratelates. His Grace was accompanied by Deacon Nicholas Olhovsky and Rassaphor Monk Boris.

Howell, NJ: The Kursk Root Icon of the Mother of God returned to the USA

On Thursday, June 24, after a five-month visit to the parishes and monasteries of Russia, Ukraine, Western Europe, and Great Britain, the Protectress of the Russian Diaspora, the Kursk Root Icon of the Mother of God, departed from the shores of the Old World and returned to the United States. With the blessing of the First Hierarch of ROCOR, the wonder-working icon was accompanied on Her return trip from London to New York by the secretary of the Eastern American Diocese, Archpriest Serge Lukianov.

Participants ranged in age from four to ninety-four, with a number of youth, young adults, clergy, and matushkas from the Eastern American Diocese.

Costa Rica: The Patronal Feast Day of Our Lady of Vladimir Mission

On Wednesday, June 2, on the eve of the patronal feast day of Our Lady of Vladimir Mission, Archpriest Daniel and Matushka Sophia McKenzie arrived in Costa Rica. Batushka and Matushka stopped in the home of Matushka Elena, the widow of Priest Rodion Aragon. That evening, Fr. Daniel served the All-Night Vigil, and the following morning served the Divine Liturgy in the home chapel of the reposed Fr. Rodion.

The International Rachmaninoff Russian Music Festival will take place June 13-20, 2010 in the greater Boston area. The Festival features unique performances, including the men’s a cappella group "Blagovest," founded in 1991 for the purpose of singing services as a male choir at Nizhny Novgorod’s Annunciation Monastery under the direction of L.G. Pankratov.

Mayfield, PA: The Hawaiian Iveron Icon of the Mother of God visited the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist

On Sunday, May 30, the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist in Mayfield, PA was granted a great blessing in the parish visitation of the Hawaiian Iveron Icon of the Mother of God. The holy icon was invited to the nearby monastery of St. Tikhon of Zadonsk by Igumen Sergius and the monastic brotherhood to celebrate their annual pilgrimage. While it was planned for the Mother of God to be solely at St. Tikhon’s Monastery, it would seem that the Mother of God heard the prayerful requests of the parish’s faithful...

On Sunday, May 30th, Holy Trinity Orthodox Seminary held a commencement ceremony for the graduating class of 2010. His Eminence, Metropolitan Hilarion, First Hierarch of Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia, presided over the ceremonies, serving the All-night Vigil on Saturday and the Divine Liturgy on Sunday.

On Monday April 26, at the age of 79, His Grace the Most-reverend Daniel (born Dimitry Borisovitch Alexandrow), Bishop of Erie, a vicar to Metropolitan Hilarion, charged with shepherding ROCOR's Old Rite flock, departed to the Lord.  He was an archpastor particularly dear to the parish of St. John the Baptist Cathedral in Washington, D.C., for he not only designed the cathedral, but personally worked on its construction.
