Wayne, WV: Bishop George led the Sacrament of Holy Unction at Holy Cross Monastery

On Great Monday, April 9, His Grace, Eastern American Diocesan vicar Bishop George of Mayfield, led the Sacrament of Holy Unction in the main church of Holy Cross Monastery in Wayne, WV. His Grace was co-served by monastery clergy: deputy abbot Abbot Seraphim (Voepel), dean Hieromonk Alexander (Frizzell), Hieromonk Andrew (O’Leary), Hieromonk Nektarios (Merry), Hierodeacon Sergius (Wilson), and Deacon Jeremiah Davis, as well as Priest Jonah Campbell (rector of Christ the Savior Church in Wayne).

The brethren and pilgrims listened attentively and reverently to the seven Gospel readings and seven Epistle readings, as well as to the touching prayers and canon that penetrate the human heart and summon feelings of true repentance. Everyone present was then anointed with the holy oil.
