The Feast of the Transfiguration in the Eastern American Diocese

On Sunday, August 19, the Orthodox Church marked the great feast of the Transfiguration of the Lord. The feast is also known to Russians as the "Second Savior" or the "Apple Savior." After the Liturgy, in accordance with tradition, the blessing of fruits takes place. Historically, on this day, the Russian people would bring the fruits of the harvest to be blessed, dedicating the fruits of their labors to the Lord God.

The Divine Liturgy was served in many monasteries and parishes of the Eastern America Diocese, followed by the blessing of fruits. Visitors to the diocesan website are invited to view photos of the Blessings of fruits in various churches of the Eastern American Diocese.
