Brooklyn, NY: Bishop Jerome celebrated the Divine Liturgy in Holy New Martyrs of Russia Church

On Sunday, February 5, Eastern American Diocesan vicar Bishop Jerome of Manhattan carried out an archpastoral visit to Holy New Martyrs & Confessors of Russia Church in Brooklyn, NY, on the occasion of the parish’s patronal feast, and celebrated the Divine Liturgy. His Grace was co-served by parish rector Archpriest Victor Tseshkovsky, Deacon Eugene Kallaur (cleric of St. Seraphim Church in Sea Cliff, NY), and parish Deacon Petr Utkin, to the singing of the excellent local choir, and in the presence of a large congregation of the faithful.

By request of His Eminence Justinian, Archbishop of Naro-Fominsk, Administrator of the Patriarchal Parishes in the USA, and with the blessing of His Eminence, Metropolitan Hilarion, Bishop Jerome ordained Reader Dimitrian Pashkov to the diaconate. During the singing of the First Antiphon, His Grace ordained Dimitrian a subdeacon, then ordaining him to the Diaconate after the consecration of the Holy Gifts. The newly ordained Fr. Dimitrian will fulfill his service at St. Nicholas Patriarchal Cathedral on Sundays and feasts, and at the Synodal Cathedral of the Sign on weekdays.

Upon completion of the Liturgy, a moleben to the New Martyrs was served, followed by a sermon by Bishop Jerome on the verse, "All those who seek to live devoutly in Christ Jesus will be persecuted," from that Sunday’s Epistle reading.

Following the Liturgy, an abundant feast was served by the parish sisterhood.
