New
York City: Vicar
Bishop Jeromes Namesday was celebrated in the Synodal Cathedral of the Sign

On Thursday, June 28, on the feast day of St. Jonah, Metropolitan of Moscow, and Blessed Jerome of Stridonium, the namesday of His Grace, Eastern American Diocesan vicar Bishop Jerome of Manhattan, was celebrated in the Russian Church Abroad’s Synodal Cathedral of the Sign in New York City.

Bishop Jerome celebrated the Divine Liturgy, co-served by diocesan and visiting clergy.

Upon completion of the Liturgy, on behalf of the First Hierarch of the Russian Church Abroad, His Eminence, Metropolitan Hilarion, and all of the faithful children of the Eastern American Diocese, diocesan secretary Archpriest Serge Lukianov greeted Bishop Jerome. His Grace was then presented a handwritten icon of the Most Holy Theotokos with a commemorative plaque.

Also read aloud was Metropolitan Hilarion’s greeting to Bishop Jerome on the occasion of his namesday:

To His Grace
JEROME
Bishop of Manhattan
Vicar of the Eastern American Diocese

Dear in the Lord Bishop Jerome,

Christ is in our midst!

On this, the feast day of Blessed Jerome of Stridonium and your namesday, I sincerely congratulate you on behalf of myself and all of the faithful children of the Eastern American Diocese.

Your zealous love for Christ and His Holy Church have led you from conversion to the Orthodox faith, to education in Holy Trinity Seminary, to ordination to the Diaconate and Priesthood, and finally to the high calling of the Episcopacy, a calling you have met with patience and diligence.

Your archpastoral labors in Christ’s vineyard, traveling to many of the parishes in our Diocese, bring joy and spiritual comfort to hundreds of the faithful. I pray that the Lord may bless and keep you for many and blessed years!

Asking your holy prayers, I remain
With love in Christ,

+HILARION
Metropolitan of Eastern America & New York
First Hierarch of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia
