Wayne, WV: The Myrrh-Streaming Icon of the Mother of God "Softener of Evil Hearts" visited Holy Cross Monastery

On Wednesday the 21st and Thursday the 22nd of March, the myrrh-streaming icon of the Mother of God "Softener of Evil Hearts" visited Holy Cross Monastery in Wayne, WV. The icon was greeted by the monastery abbot, His Grace George, Bishop of Mayfield, and the monastery brotherhood at the start of divine services at 5 o’clock in the monastery church on Wednesday morning. Pilgrims from local Orthodox parishes of several jurisdictions visited from near and far to join the monastic brotherhood in prayer before the icon. At 1 o’clock on Wednesday, a full moleben was served before the icon, led by Bishop George, co-served by monastery clerics: the deputy abbot, Abbot Seraphim (Voepel), and Hieromonks Alexander (Frizzell), Andrew (O’Leary), and Nektarios (Merry). Also co-serving were Archpriest Olof Scott (rector of St. George’s Antiochian Cathedral in Charleston, WV), Archpriest John Dixon (rector of Holy Spirit Antiochian Church in Huntington, WV), Priest Mark Elliott (rector of St. George’s Greek Church in Huntington), and Priest Jonah Campbell (rector of Christ the Savior Church in Wayne). A reception followed in the monastery refectory.
