Howell, NJ: The Rite of Holy Unction was served in St. George’s Church

On Sunday evening, April 21, the Sacrament of Holy Unction was served in St. George’s Church in Howell, NJ. The Rite of Unction was led by parish rector Archpriest Serge Lukianov, co-served by parish and visiting clergy: Archpriest Paul Shafran (pastor emeritus at St. Vladimir’s OCA Church in Trenton, NJ) and Priests Boris Slootsky (parish cleric), Leonid Goferman (rector of Holy Virgin Protection Church in New Brunswick, NJ), Seraphim Chemodakov (cleric of neighboring St. Alexander Nevsky Cathedral in Howell), Dmitri Don (rector of Sts. Cosmas & Damian Church in Passaic, NJ), Valery Sukholobov (rector of Joy of All Who Sorrow Church in Philadelphia, PA), and parish clerics: Protodeacon Leonid Roschko and Deacon Michael Wengrin.

Upon completion of the Unction service, Fr. Serge thanked his fellow clergy for taking part in the sacrament, and made special note of Fr. Paul, congratulating him on the 65th anniversary of his ordination to the priesthood, which took place at the end of December last year. In honor of the momentous milestone, Fr. Paul was presented with a copy of the Kursk Root Icon of the Mother of God, with a commemorative plaque, on behalf of the parish. The Polychronion was then intoned for Fr. Paul and Matushka Maria.
