Wayne, WV: The First Week of Great Lent in Holy Cross Monastery

On the first week of Great Lent, March 18-23, the full cycle of Great Lenten services were served in Holy Cross Monastery in Wayne, WV. On Wednesday and Friday, the Liturgy of the Presanctified Gifts were served, led by the monastery’s rector, His Grace, Eastern American Diocesan vicar Bishop George Mayfield, co-served by monastery clergy. Throughout the week, His Grace helped with the lengthy Lenten readings.

On the Triumph of Orthodoxy, Sunday, March 24, a Hierarchal Liturgy was celebrated, after which Bishop George performed the Rite of Orthodoxy. Monastery Hierodeacon Sergius (Wilson) read the Synodicon.
