Paterson, NJ: Bishop Jerome leads Divine Services in St. Michael’s Cathedral

On Sunday, February 9, His Grace, Bishop Jerome, visited St. Michael’s Cathedral in Paterson, NJ and led the divine services on the Sunday of the Holy New Martyrs & Confessors of Russia.

Before the start of service, Bishop Jerome baptized Ariadna, the newborn daughter of Jonathan and Svetlana Glacken. At the Liturgy, His Grace was co-served by parish rector Archpriest George Zelenin and Protodeacon Dimitri Temidis (cleric of Holy Virgin Protection Church in Nyack, NY). According to the bishop, the Liturgy was well-attended, and many of the faithful approached the holy chalice.

Bishop Jerome delivered two sermons ‒ the first in Russian, on the topic of the Scripture verse "All that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution (II Tim. 3:12 – the epistle reading for the Sunday of the Publican and the Pharisee, though applicable also to the memory of the Holy New Martyrs), and a second in English, about avoiding the temptation of pharisaical judgment of others.

After the service, a bountiful luncheon was offered in the parish hall.
