Fund for Assistance Renews Collections for Two Principal Diocesan
Monasteries
According
to the
website of the Fund for Assistance to ROCOR, an anonymous donor
has put $20,000 on the table for two of the most prominent
monasteries in the Eastern American Diocese – Holy Trinity Monastery
in Jordanville, NY, and Holy Cross Monastery in Wayne, WV.
But there is one condition before they can claim it: donors have to
match the gift dollar for dollar.
The simple truth is that summers are a very difficult time for
monastics. Donations always decrease after Pascha. People go on
vacation, there are graduations, weddings, trips to be taken… life
happens. Meanwhile, monasteries suffer financially. At the time of
year when they can do most projects around the monastery, they are
forced to go into survival mode.
Our site’s readers are familiar with the problems both monasteries
have experienced in the past. Holy Trinity Monastery is in dire need
of restoring its entire infrastructure, while Holy Cross Monastery
is having trouble accommodating all those wishing to remain at the
monastery permanently. Thanks to generous benefactors, to date the
Fund for Assistance has collected $255,000 for Holy Cross Monastery,
and $174,000 for Holy Trinity Monastery.
This generosity has perpetuated great changes at both monasteries,
but the summer problem remains. A gift today will ensure that our
brethren not only survive, but thrive this summer. Any generosity
will allow the monastics to:
- cover daily expenses such as food, electricity, water, etc.;

cover much needed health insurance and medical expenses;

complete necessary repairs cheaply while it is warm and light;
-
fulfill their vocation by praying for each donor personally and the
salvation of the whole world.
With everybody’s help, Holy Trinity and Holy Cross Monasteries will
gain $20,000 (and very likely more!) in financial support! Donations

Any donation made at this time will be twice as effective. A gift of
$10 will expand to $20 impact. A gift of $500 will balloon into a
massive $1,000 of impact! Each dollar given will be doubled
if on all donations made
before July10!
