Nicholas leads Patronal Feast of St. Nicholas Church
On
Saturday, December 19, the feast of the Holy Hierarch Nicholas,
Wonderworker of Myra in Lycia, His Grace Nicholas, Bishop of
Manhattan, vicar of the Eastern American Diocese, paid an
archpastoral visit to St. Nicholas Church in Enfield, CT and led the
parish’s patronal feast day. His Grace accompanied the Kursk Root
Icon of the Mother of God in her visitation to the parish, and the
divine services were held under the aegis of the Protectress of the
Russian Diaspora.
On Saturday morning, Bishop Nicholas
celebrated the Divine Liturgy, co-served by Archpriest Michael
Crowley (dean of New England), parish rector Archpriest Brendan
Crowley, Archpriest Constantine Semyanko (cleric of Holy
Presentation Church in Stratford, CT), Protodeacon Alexander
Jarostchuk (cleric of Holy Epiphany Church in Boston, MA), and
Deacon Alexander Doohovskoy (cleric of St. Xenia Church in Methuen,
MA).
Upon completion of the service, a short
moleben was served with a procession around the church, carrying the
Kursk Root Icon and the icon of St. Nicholas. After Liturgy, a
bountiful luncheon was offered for the clergy and faithful in the
parish hall.
