Haiti: Priest Gregoire Legouté laid to rest
On
Thursday, November 26, Priest Gregoire Legouté, cleric of the
Russian Orthodox Mission in Haiti and rector of the parish of Ven.
Moses the Black in Fontamara, was laid to rest in Port au Prince,
Haiti. His funeral was served by Priest Jean Chenier-Dumais (rector
of the Church of the Nativity of the Theotokos in Port au Prince and
co-laborer with Fr. Gregoire in the Mission) and Priest Matthew
Williams (rector of St. Tikhon Church in Bristol, VA. Deacons Jules
Dumais, Abraham Christoff, and Hermann Abraham assisted.
The Greek Orthodox Mission in Haiti was represented by Priest
Barnabas Jerome. Hundreds of family, faithful, and friends were
present.
On Friday, November 27, Fr. Matthew celebrated a Liturgy in memory
of Fr. Gregoire at the parish of Ven. Moses the Black in Fontamara.
He was co-served by Fr. Jean and Deacons Abraham and Germain.
Fr. Gregoire is survived by his Matushka, Rose, and two daughters,
Anastasia and Chrissy (Christina).
