New York City: Bishop Nicholas leads Theophany Services in Synodal
Cathedral of the Sign
On
Sunday the 18th and Monday the 19th of January, the great feast of
Theophany – the Baptism of the Lord, His Grace, Eastern American
Diocesan vicar Bishop Nicholas of Manhattan, led the All-Night Vigil
and Divine Liturgy in the Synodal Cathedral of the Sign in New York
City. His Grace was co-served by Synodal clergy: the cathedral’s
senior priest, Archpriest Andrei Sommer, Archpriests Petro Zgoba and
Vasiliy Raskovskiy, Hieromonks Eutychius (Dovganyuk) and Zosimas
(Krampis), Protodeacons Nicolas Mokhoff and Vadim Gan, and Deacons
Nazari Fataliev and Dionysius Lvov. The divine services were adorned
by the singing of the Hierarchal Choir, under the direction of
conductor Peter Fekula.
Upon completion of the Liturgy, Bishop Nicholas addressed the
faithful with a sermon on the meaning of the feast, and then led the
rite of the Great Blessing of the Water. A procession in the
cathedral’s courtyard was planned for that day but, unfortunately,
had to be canceled due to adverse weather conditions.
