Directive from Metropolitan Hilarion to all Diocesan Rectors for 8th Anniversary of Russian Church’s Reunification

In honor of the 8th anniversary of the Reunification, His Eminence, Metropolitan Hilarion, is directing all parishes to read a thanksgiving prayer, and commemorate those who accomplished this great feat – Patriarch Alexey II and Metropolitan Laurus.

Dear in the Lord reverend fathers,

Christ is Risen!

Sunday, May 17th, marks the eighth anniversary of the signing of the Act of Canonical Communion between the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia and the Russian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate by the ever-memorable hierarchs: His Holiness, Patriarch Alexey, and His Eminence, Metropolitan Laurus.

In honor of the anniversary, in all churches of the Eastern American Diocese, the thanksgiving Prayer for the Prosperity of the Russian Orthodox Church (attached) is to be read after the Augmented Litany, and Patriarch Alexey and Metropolitan Laurus are to be commemorated at the Great Entrance. After Liturgy, "Memory Eternal" is to be intoned for them.
