New York City: St. Vladimir Youth Association begins "Food Bank 2015" Project

In keeping with the experience and traditions of the Synodal Youth Department, the St. Vladimir Youth Association has organized the "Food Bank 2015" Project. The Youth Association has reached an agreement with the Food Bank for New York City to organize a food drive for Thanksgiving Day for needy and homeless residents of New York. One of the main goals of the St. Vladimir Youth Association is to not only collect foodstuffs for the needy, but also to unite and expand connections among the Orthodox youth in various parishes and states.

Objectives
- Collect food products for poor and homeless residents of New York City.
- Attract and unite youth around the goals of benevolent and social work.

Goals
Gather 3,000 items of canned goods, which will be enough to provide 2,000 dinners on Thanksgiving.

Internal Communication
Parish youth in New York, Long Island & New Jersey.

Collections & Donations
Empty boxes will be placed in parishes in New York, Long Island & New Jersey. Distribution and collection of the boxes will be coordinated together with the Food Bank for New York City.

Times
The project will begin on October 18, 2015. Collection of the boxes and food will take place in the middle of November 2015.

Locations
Parishes of the Russian Church Abroad in the cities of New York, Long Island & New Jersey.

* Canned fruits * Dried fruits * 100% Fruit juices

* Beans – canned or dried * Peanut butter * Nuts * Canned meat (chicken, beef) * Canned fish * Prepared foods

Cereals
* Rice * Pasta * Dried breakfasts * Hot breakfasts/Oatmeals * Flour * Crackers * Couscous/Buckwheat

Milk Products
* Dried milk * Soy milk * Almond milk

Other
* Spices * Coffee/tea * Personal hygiene items
