New York City: Festal Services for Entry of the Lord into Jerusalem
held at Synodal Cathedral
On
Saturday the 23rd and Sunday the 24th of April, hierarchal divine
services were held in the Synodal Cathedral of the Sign in New York
City for the great feast of the Entry of the Lord into Jerusalem.
The All-Night Vigil on Saturday evening was led by the First Hierarch of the Russian Church
Abroad, Metropolitan Hilarion of Eastern America & New York,
co-served by Eastern American Diocesan vicar Bishop Nicholas of
Manhattan, senior priest Archpriest Andrei Sommer, and cathedral
clergy: Archpriest Vasiliy Raskovskiy, Hieromonk Eutychius
(Dovganyuk), Priest Vitaliy Lalyukov, Protodeacons Nicolas Mokhoff
and Vadim Gan, and Deacon Dionysius Lvov, as well as Deacon Nathan
Mousselli (cleric of St. Vladimir Memorial Church in Jackson, NJ).
After the reading of the Gospel at the Polyeleos, His Eminence
performed the blessing of the palms and pussy willows.
The following morning, the festal Divine Liturgy on Palm Sunday was
led by the Metropolitan alone, co-served by cathedral clergy. During
the Liturgy, cathedral Deacon Dionysius Lvov
was elevated to the rank of protodeacon. A great number of cathedral
parishioners communed of Christ’s Holy Mysteries.
After the service, a festal luncheon was served for the clergy and
faithful in the cathedral hall.
