Nanuet, NY: Patronal Feast Day of St. Seraphim Cathedral in
Novo-Diveevo
On
Sunday, July 31, and Monday, August 1, the feast of the Uncovering
of the Relics of the Venerable Seraphim, Wonderworker of Sarov, Holy
Dormition Convent "Novo-Diveevo" in Nanuet, NY, celebrated the
patronal feast day of the convent’s main St. Seraphim Cathedral.
At the All-Night Vigil on Sunday evening, the convent’s senior
cleric, Archpriest Alexander Fedorowski, was co-served by Archpriest
Yaroslav Belikow (monastery cleric), Priest Dmitri Don (rector of
Sts. Cosmas & Damian Church in Passaic, NJ), Protodeacon Serge
Arlievsky and Hierodeacon Panteleimon (Jigalin; monastery clerics),
and Deacon Alexey Pnev (cleric of the Nativity of the Mother of God
Church at the New Kursk Root Hermitage in Mahopac, NY). During the
Polyeleos, an akathist was read to the Heavenly patron of the church
and convent, after which the worshippers venerated the icon of St.
Seraphim and were anointed with oil.
On
Monday morning, following an akathist and lesser blessing of water,
Fr. Alexander celebrated Divine Liturgy, co-served by cathedral
clerics Archpriests Mark Burachek, Yaroslav Belikow, and George
Zelenin, Hieromonk Photius (Oulanov; cleric of Holy Virgin
Intercession Church in Glen Cove, NY), and the above-mentioned
deacons, as well as Protodeacon Dionysius Lvov (cleric of the
Synodal Cathedral of the Sign in New York City).
A multitude of pilgrims filled the church and prayed under the
harmonic singing of the cathedral choir. A procession of the cross
was led around the cathedral following Liturgy, after which the
Polychronion was intoned to Abbess Makaria and the sisters of the
convent, as well as to all Seraphims celebrating their namesday. A
bountiful luncheon followed the services.
