Moscow: Bishop Nicholas celebrates Divine Liturgy at Holy Epiphany

On
Sunday, January 31, the feast day of the Holy Hierarchs Athanasius &
Cyril, Patriarchs of Alexandria, and Venerable Cyril & Maria, the
parents of Ven. Sergius of Radonezh, with the blessing of His
Holiness Kyrill, Patriarch of Moscow & All Russia, and His Eminence
Hilarion, Metropolitan of Eastern America & New York, First Hierarch
of the Russian Church Abroad, His Grace, Eastern American Diocesan
vicar Bishop Nicholas of Manhattan, celebrated the Divine Liturgy at
Holy Epiphany Cathedral on Yelokhovo Square in Moscow. The evening
prior, Bishop Nicholas served the All-Night Vigil in the cathedral.
His Grace was joined by cathedral rector Archpriest Alexander
Ageykin and cathedral clergy.
After the dismissal at the Divine Liturgy, His Grace delivered a
sermon on the day’s Epistle reading, after which he thanked the
rector, brethren, and parishioners for their shared prayers, and
presented Holy Epiphany Cathedral a copy of the wonderworking Kursk
Root Icon of the Mother of God in an embroidered
riza that once adorned
the Kursk Icon, the main icon of the Russian Church Abroad.
Upon completion of the services, Fr. Alexander hosted a luncheon in
honor of Bishop Nicholas, after which His Grace spoke with the
cathedral’s pastor emeritus, Protopresbyter Matthew Stadnyuk, and
his matushka.
His Grace was accompanied by Protodeacon Eugene Kallaur (an
administrator at the Synod of Bishops in New York City and cleric of
St. Seraphim Memorial Church to the Re-Establishment of Unity in the
Russian Church, located in Sea Cliff, NY.
