New York City: Bishop Nicholas leads Nativity Services in Synodal
Cathedral
On
Wednesday the 6th and Thursday the 7th of January, Bishop Nicholas
of Manhattan, vicar of the Eastern American Diocese, led the divine
services for the great feast of the Nativity of Christ in the
Synodal Cathedral of the Sign in New York City. His Grace was
co-served by the cathedral’s senior priest, Archpriest Andrei
Sommer, and cathedral clergy: Archpriest Vasiliy Raskovskiy,
Hieromonk Eutychius (Dovganyuk), Priest Vitaly Lalyukov,
Protodeacons Nicolas Mokhoff and Vadim Gan, Deacons Nazari Fataliev
and Dionysius Lvov, and visiting clergy. Singing the divine services
was the Synodal choir, under the direction of conductor Peter
Fekula.
Many parishioners communed of Christ’s Holy Mysteries on the radiant
feast day. After the services, the cathedral sisterhood organized
the traditional festal luncheon for the clergy and faithful.
This year, the Nativity services were held under the aegis of the
Protectress of the Russian Diaspora – the Kursk Root Icon of the
Mother of God.
